Banch de la Reson

The original building which hosts the ancient courthouse of the "Magnifica Comunità di Rocca Pietore" in located in the upper part of the little village of Saviner di Laste. This important building known as "Banch de la Reson" (that's to say the place where, in the past, the most important decisions were taken). In the Langobard period this courthouse was the place where the wise men decided the main rules of the everyday life in the village, till some particular rules such as the right to live or to death (in case of serious crime). The community of Rocca Pietore had an important privilege: it was more or less indipendent both from the Republic of Venice and the Austro-Hungarian Empire. Nowadays the building has been restored and hosts a private house visible only outside.
