Chiesa Parrocchiale Santa Maria Annunziata, Viale Venezia, n.18 - 32036 Sedico IT (0039) 0437852027 parrocchie.sedico@gmail.com www.treinsieme.it/

The old archpriest had become too small for the large population, so it was demolished in 1955 and then was built another, mainly by the will of Mons. Luigi Fiori (archpriest in those years), the current, whose first stone was blessed by Bishop Mons. Giosuè Cattarossi on June 11, 1933 and was solemnly inaugurated on October 7, 1939 on the feast of Our Lady of the Rosary. Signed by Arch. Pietro Del Fabbro of Treviso, the new church is designed in Latin plan and Romanesque style, measuring 50 mt. long and 20 mt. width; it has three naves divided by two rows of octagonal stone columns. On the facade on the sides and above the portal were placed five statues of saints that still belonged to the old church. (Today specially restored and returned to the ancient splendor). The church is characterized by large stones visible on the outside that symbolize the hard life of those years. Originally the interior was equipped with three marble altars, but today it has a wooden altar. It also had a small organ that today has instead been replaced with a larger, more modern, more sonorous one, equipped with two keyboards and with their visible pipes in the background in the apse. For the depictions in the new church were brought some artworks including a «Madonna and Child» on panel by Titian - Francesco Vecellio dated 1505; a canvas by Pietro Marescalchi depicting «San Giovanni Battista between San Rocco and Santa Caterina»; a «Santa Lucia between San Camillo e Sant'Antonio Abate» by Antonio Lazzarini; the altarpiece of the Annunciation on the high altar of the old parish church by an unknown but certainly not naive author (according to some Gregorio Lazzarini) and a «Visit to St. Elizabeth» which was part of a cycle with the Mysteries of the Rosary. Another valuable piece a beautiful case carved in wood by Andrea Brustolon.
