It is situated at about 200 meters from Pass of Rutòrto. Privileged place of departure for the characteristic Cengia di Ball and the common way of ascent to the Pelmo, it constitutes frequented destination of pleasant walks and excursions in the restful green of forests and pastures.

Availability of a rock climbing wall at 10 minutes. It is a point of passage and rest for the walkers of the High Roads of the Dolomites n. 1 and 3. It was the first refuge on Italian soil in the Dolomites, built in two months in 1892 by the Venice section of the CAI.

Set on fire by the Germans in September 1944, it was rebuilt, reopened in 1954 and dedicated to the memory of Albamaria De Luca, a mountaineer who died at the age of 18 on the Croda da Lago.

How to get there:

IN SUMMER

To reach the Venezia - Albamaria De Luca shelter on Pelmo, you can start from Vodo, Borca or San Vito.
From the hamlet of Serdes in San Vito, follow the mule track no. 470 that passes by the Grotta della Madonna, the Taulà di Tiera and Pian de Madier and you will reach the Refuge in about 3.30 minutes of walking.

From Villanova di Borca, follow the dirt road to Tiera and from here rejoin path no. 470 that comes from Serdes. Walking time to the Refuge about 2,30 hours. Alternatively, take trail no. 475 to Malga Ciauta, pass through Pian de la Palù and Cianpe de Naieron, and reach the Refuge in about 3.30 hours.

From Vodo, after the lake, continue by car or on foot along the partially asphalted road that leads to Malga Ciauta and from here, in little more than an hour's walk, you reach the shelter. 

Alternatively, you can reach shelter Talamini by car, and on foot you can follow the dirt road n. 456 that leads to Zoppè di Cadore, until you cross the detour to the Refuge, CAI paths n. 493-439. Walking time about 2 hours.

IN WINTER

Snow-avalanche conditions permitting, the trails are passable on foot, with snowshoes or with ski touring.
