Lake Vedana is a small lake of glacial origin, dominated by the Monti del Sole with the top of Mount Peron that stands out in its placid waters.
The biotype in which it is immersed is of great naturalistic interest, at the gates of the Belluno Dolomites National Park, it occupies a small depression caused by an ancient riverbed of the river Cordevole, within an area called Masiere, a large expanse of large boulders and debris now largely covered by pioneer vegetation.
The lake of Vedana and the peat meadows of "Le Torbe" are "wet oasis"; the lake is fed by underground water veins, along the route of an old abandoned valley of the Cordevole stream.
The whole area is very interesting from the faunisitic point of view, they live in these areas motli reptiles and amphibians, various species of birds nest there and at its edges we often find roe deer and deer.
In its waters there are many types of fish that make it a lake very popular with those who practice sport fishing.
Near San Gottardo stands the Certosa di Vedana, an ancient Carthusian monastery.
