A plunge into the geological history of this valley, an iconic example of glacial modelling.
Passing through woods along part of its length, we will skirt the Liera stream, then visit the village of Gares, laden with past, recent and distant history, and conclude by crossing the glacial circle at its base in the vicinity of the waterfalls of the same name.
The route starts at a picnic-parking area and follows path/cycleway 762. We will ride along this path alongside the Liera stream, slowly ascending and gaining altitude in the Gares Valley. Once at the Hotel Nevada area, we deviate off the track into the woods, climbing up the new path towards Malga Stia. We cross the village of Gares and then take trail 704, which goes in the direction of the well-known waterfalls of the same name. Before reaching the waterfalls, we will follow a new variant path to descend and reach Pian de le Giare and through its woods to Capanna Cima Comelle, the end of our route.
