The Retic Path is a way of traveling that prioritizes quality over quantity, focusing on the connection with the territories and the discovery of their typical dishes, which represent their cultural essence.
The Retic Path is linked by its name to the pre-Roman past of the town of Feltre and the entire Feltrino area, characterized by the presence of the Reti, a culture that, from its epicenter in Trentino (for example, the finds at Sanzeno, which give the name to one of the most important variants of this culture, that of Fritzens-Sanzeno), later spread to the upper Vicentine, the Bressanone area, and generally to Alto Adige (especially with the material culture variant of the Luco-Meluno Culture) and to all territories included between the eastern part of present-day Switzerland and Carnia. The Reti were part of a particularly complex territorial framework, which, to stay within our territory, also included the Ancient Veneti – with peculiar aspects that led Giulia Fogolari to identify them as “Alpine Veneti” – and the Carni, who occupied the northern part.
From the plateaus of Sovramonte and Lamon, to the Tesino area, passing through Fonzaso, the spectacular Corlo Lake, and Arsiè, traversing the Seren valley, to reach Cesiomaggiore, descending to the historic town of Feltre and from there to the Pedavena Brewery, famous throughout Europe, before climbing back to Aune and the gentle slopes of the Feltrine Peaks.
The bicycle route is approximately 290 km long with an average elevation gain of 7760m and takes place for about 146 km on asphalt, 87 km on dirt roads, 46 km on paved paths, 8 km on compact gravel, 2 km on grass, and 1 km on cobblestones.
