If you're passionate about ancient architectural beauties and at the same time eager to immerse yourself in marvelous rural landscapes, the 'Tour of the Villas' is the perfect choice. Park your car in the square at Trichiana and follow trail marker 2324, meandering through the narrow streets that wind around the town and its hamlets. Admire the noble residences built between the 16th and 18th centuries, still remarkably well-preserved today.
Nearby, you'll find Villa Piloni-Federici-Foscolo, still inhabited and visitable exclusively by appointment. Constructed near the ancient castle, which was razed to the ground after the Battle of Casteldardo fought between the people of Belluno and Treviso for control of the territory and communication routes, the villa still maintains the surrounding countryside of meadows, vineyards, and cultivated fields.
The charming chapels encountered along the route are also worth exploring. Don't miss the Parish Church of San Felice, considered one of the oldest in Valbelluna and an ancient parish church dating back to the 6th century. Strategically located near the Piave River, where there used to be a ferry for transporting goods and people under the jurisdiction of the Maggior Consiglio of Belluno.
The route can be enjoyed all year round and is suitable for gravel biking and Nordic walking.
