Symbol of the tragedy, it remained miraculously untouched by the wave that destroyed the near church. Recenty renovated it is visitable, at 1 km from the center of Longarone.
It became the emblem of disaster, and an orphan of the church it belonged to. It was dedicated to Saint Tomaso the Apostle, built in the late 1400s by the "Regolieri" of Longarone, Igne and Pirago that took care of its maintenance. They buried the dead in the near cimiter, expanded after the Napoleonic Edict.
In 2000 the site was object of a restoration that involved, in addition to the arrangement of the cemetery, also the paving of the former church.
