Nestled among the wooded slopes of Mount Serva, overlooking Belluno and Ponte nelle Alpi, the Church of Sant'Andrea in Monte is much more than just a place of worship.
It is a silent witness to centuries of history, an oasis of peace, and a reference point for the local community. This small architectural gem, reachable only on foot via a path immersed in nature, hides fascinating stories and priceless works of art within. Let's discover together the wonders of this enchanted place and its deep connection with the history and culture of the Val Belluna.
The first evidence of the church dates back to 1362, but its origins are shrouded in mystery. What is certain is that during restoration and consolidation work on the path, remains of a wall and medieval ceramics were found. The characteristics of the wall suggest a building from a period earlier than the church, for purposes of refuge and defense, as there was a military watchtower in the locality of Castelle, just above the church.
