Giving the visitor a "business card", a sample of the hundreds of plant species that live in the Park: the idea of creating a botanical garden in Val del Mis, upstream of the lake, near the access to the Cadini del Brenton was born from this need.
The botanical garden is also a useful tool for carrying out scientific and educational activities, dedicated to the rich flora of the Park (more than 1,500 species), which includes many rare plants and is a reason to attract botanical experts and simple enthusiasts.
Opened in July 2008, the garden allows the observation of high-altitude species, without having to undertake difficult and tiring excursions, which are not within the reach of all visitors to the protected area, and is divided into areas that recreate the main environments of the Park: the rocks and screes, wetlands, meadows and pastures, the wood.
The structure has been designed respecting the most modern indications regarding use for the visually impaired, through the use of Braille in educational panels and the creation of a relief model of the entire garden.
Particular attention has also been paid to the needs of the disabled: the garden is in fact fully accessible and accessible by wheelchair.
The garden is being set up, also because you are respected the timing of nature, planting plants from seed or small plants... so it will take a few years for it to be as splendid as we would like it to be.
How to access:
Access to the botanical garden is on payment. The cost of the entrance ticket is 2 euros. Access is free for children and teenagers up to 14 years of age and for all residents in the 15 municipalities of the park.
Ticket payment entitles you to:
- access to the Campanula morettiana botanical garden,
- access to the path leading to the Cadini del Brenton,
- receive a free reminder of the Cadini.
The ticket can be purchased directly at the information point of the botanical garden.
During the days and times of closure of the information point/ ticket office access to the garden and the path of the Cadini del Brenton is free.
