La cascata del Pissoton, Piazza Vittorio Emanuele II (Piazza Maggiore) - 32032 Feltre (BL) IT (0039) 04392540 feltrino@dolomitiprealpi.it www.dolomitiprealpi.it

This simple but charming walk starts from the bridge of Remuglia, near the entrance of Via Colli of Murle, which leads to Feltre. You start by taking the unpaved dirt road that skirts, on the orographic left, the banks of the Remuglia stream and leads inland into the forest.

After a very few minutes' walk, past the private houses, you can see on the right of the fences that, starting from the spring period, host various farmyard animals and some noisy as well as friendly baby goats, which are often left free to greet visitors.

Continue the path following the wide road that runs along the stream and observing, on the left and beyond the shore, the numerous bright yellow primroses that in the spring months color and enliven this lovely place, altering to trinity grass with a soft purple color. You begin to enter the forest and, at the first fork you come to, keep left following the white and blue reference signs.

After about ten minutes from the start of the walk, the trail takes you fording the Remuglia stream to cross over to the orographic right of it; the water level, at this point, is never excessively high, and you can help yourself in crossing it by taking advantage of the temporary passage created with stones of various sizes and logs.

Continue along the main flat road that becomes, gradually, narrower and narrower, eventually becoming a path. The latter, zigzagging along the forest slope, takes you uphill (all the modest elevation gain of the walk develops here). Also in the spring you can see many candid anemones and vibrant cinquefoils dotting your path. Continue walking for a few minutes following the path, now flat, to finally reach the sight of the enchanting and bewitching Pissoton waterfall.

FURTHER INFORMATION ON… Pissoton Waterfall

The Colmeda, a stream on whose banks the village of Pedavena rises with dispersed plan, is the collector of the catchment basin of the Valle di Lamen, and receives the tributaries Porcilla and Remuglia. The Remuglia stream, which characterizes this last route of this guidebook, originates below the Col di S'ciesa, in the territory of Vignui, and then descends rapidly and, in its short course, forms the beautiful Pissoton waterfall. It is difficult to describe the suggestion deriving from observing the shapes it takes and the evolutions that the water of the waterfall makes in taking a leap of almost fifteen meters. In this regard, it is interesting to note that in the old dialectal lexicon, now obsolete, the term pis also had the meaning of waterfall and, therefore, the epithet pissoton could only be given to a large waterfall.
