Painted city Tour, Piazza Vittorio Emanuele II (Piazza Maggiore) - 32032 Feltre (BL) IT (0039) 04392540 feltrino@dolomitiprealpi.it www.dolomitiprealpi.it

A journey to discover the richness of the palaces superbly decorated facades of the historic center of Feltre, also known as urbs picta, painted city.

Starting from Prà del Moro, head towards as the Ice Palace to continue towards Via Pietro Marescalchi and Via Borgo Ruga. After a short journey in Via Francesco Crispi you will follow the so-called market street, Via Campo Mosto, which will lead you to the Co-Cathedrale of St Peter Apostle and its Baptistery. Under its churchyard there is an archaeological area of 900mq, which preserves the testimonies of the most ancient phases of the city life, or a portion of the urban district of the Roman center of Feltria.

Already from here is clearly visible the urban structure characterized by the Citadel that climbs the hill, called Colle delle Capre, dominated by the Castle of Alboino. The walls, which protect it, were enlarged at the end of the fifteenth century and are still partly passable thanks to the ancient Sentinel Path.

Close to these walls there are three gates to the historic center: Porta Imperiale, Porta Pusterla and Porta Oria. The route involves crossing Porta Pusterla which will lead you through the so-called Old Step to discover the Ancient Prisons and the curious streets of this part of town, in particular Via Mezzaterra, until you reach the palaces that house the Diocesan Museum of Sacred Art and the "Carlo Rizzarda" Modern Art Gallery, a museum that contains the irons and decorative art of the early twentieth century.

At the end of this street, Via Paradiso, you reach the wonderful Piazza Maggiore, overlooked by palaces of various eras, the Church of Saints Rocco and Sebastiano, the Palazzo della Ragione that contains the Teatro de la Sena, better known as the Little Phoenix because it was built by the same architect who designed the Venetian theater, Giannantonio Selva. From here you can also see the Hall of Coats of Arms and the Castle.

The route continues in the Bosco Drio le Rive and leads back to Prà del Moro.
