If you are an art and history buff, Belluno’s art and history museums are sure to fascinate and intrigue you.
Among the names you will encounter are Mario Sironi, Gino Severini, Marc Chagall, Pablo Picasso, Jacopo Tintoretto, Sebastiano Ricci, Andrea Brustolon, Filippo de Pisis, Augusto Murer. They do not need much introduction. However, do not underestimate the works of the many local artists, often unknown to the masses, but valuable artefacts of the culture and taste of the time.
For the great amount of artistic as well as religious works, go to the Diocesan Museum of Sacred Art of Feltre, which collects objects from the whole province. Also in Feltre, at the Carlo Rizzarda Gallery of Modern Art, you can see paintings and graphic works by major artists of the 20th century, along with the works of the Feltre master of wrought iron.
Then venture as far as Falcade to the Museo Augusto Murer where the works of the important sculptor of Agordo are well preserved. At the Mario Rimoldi Museum in Cortina, you can admire one of the most interesting and prestigious collections of modern art in Italy.
