The atmosphere and charm you will breathe here are the same that inspired so many of the stories of the great writer and painter Dino Buzzati, who was born here in 1906 and spent most summers here.
The villa, which has been owned by the Buzzati family since 1811, was where the writer wrote, strolled and the departure point of his hikes in the Dolomites in Belluno.
We are located just outside the historic centre of Belluno with the majestic Schiara in the background. Driving along the road that connects the capital to Feltre, passing through Sinistra Piave, you will immediately notice the little church of San Pellegrino, dating back to 1535, the centrepiece of the estate the villa and the local-style barn also belong to.
Today, the villa houses a B&B and is often the site of events and happenings dedicated to Dino Buzzati, culture, and music.
Bookings accepted for guided tour of the outside – of inside the church – Valentina Morassutti – Associazione Culturale Villa Buzzati S. Pellegrino - Il Granaio – Phone: +39 333 648 6024.
Educational tours and workshops also.
Opening time – 1st Sunday of the month from April to October by reservation.

- This is how Buzzati describes Monte Schiara: “The Schiara, which is right above, has a wall blooming with wonderful colours absolutely on par with the most famous crode (rock formations). And rising, most gracefully, from the ridge is Gusela del Vescovà or the Bishop’s Needle, that is, a beautiful spire, monolith, forty metres high."
