Escursione al rifugio Antelao, Località Sella Pradònego - 32044 Pieve Di Cadore (BL) IT (0039) 043575333 liviozanardo2410@gmail.com www.rifugio-antelao.it

It is situated at 1796 meters in the place Sella of Pradonego that is located in the district of Pieve di Cadore (Belluno). This shelter, after work of renovation, is a stunning point of passage between Cadore and Valle del boite along a path at the east of the mountain (3263 mts) after which it is named.
Property of Cai Treviso, this shelter built on 1948 thanks to the writer and mountaineer Alma Bevilacqua (better known with the pseudonym of Giovanna Zangrandi) to enhance a dolomite place not very well-known that she has enjoyed and loved during the partisan struggle.

IN SUMMER

From Pozzale di cadore, place of Col:

Above the residential area, at the crossroads of Col, you can choose between two paths.
At the left you find the path of Tranego. A long and unpaved military road with a simply path thanks to the gentle slope and offer you a dream environment on the Cadore. This path climbs up to an altitude of 1,849m, under the peak of Mount Tranego, and then descends to Forcella Antracisa, at an altitude of 1,693m.
At the right you find the path 250 called delle Ville. It is a dirty/asphalt road that you can traverse also with the car up to former shelter Prapiccolo. Then, there is a path in the wood up to Forcella Antracisa where you can admire the unforgettable landscapes on Calalzo, Rizzios and the Marmarole. From Forcella Antracisa follow the only path that in about twenty minutes leads to the shelter.

From Pozzale di Cadore, piazza Regina Margherita:

The path 253 called delle Grave exploits for the first stretch the former ski slopes of Pozzale, then goes into the woods up to forcella Antracisa. Of the three paths that start from Pozzale, it is the most hard, but the fastest.

From Nebbiù, Tai di Cadore:

The path 254 start from the residential area where is located the ancient church San Bartolomeo and the ancient cemetery of thirteenth-century origin with frescoes bell tower. From here, go up along the Rio Marilongo, overtake the rocky pass known as Salto del Mus and continue into the woods. At the next fork, leave the mule-track and follow a path on the left (still marked 254) which, on a steep slope, after passing the ruins of the Pezuó barns, reaches the clearing of Forcella Antracisa. This is the most tiring route.

From Valle di Cadore:

Above the residential area start the dirty/asphalt road that reached Costapiana shelter (1570 meters). From here you take the path 251 until the crossroads from where you can decide whether to descend towards Forcella Antracisa or ascend to the Church of San Dionisio (1,946m). From the church you can reach the shelter in about 40 minutes.

From Calalzo di Cadore:

From Calalzo, go up the Molinà stream to Praciadelan, where you take the path 258, which allows you to go up to Piani dell'Antelao (1,650 m). Continuing on, you will cross path 250 that comes from the Galassi Refuge and through Forcella Piria you will reach the shelter.

IN WINTER

The most popular path is the road that goes up to Tranego, descends to Forcella Antracisa and arrives at the shelter only if snow and weather conditions permitting, with a particularly attention at the avalanche danger and you can go up on foot, with snowshoes or with alpine skis.
The downhill road also becomes a fun toboggan run.

Attention: this is a not approved slope, without protections and crossed by skiers and pedestrians, so you have to go down with caution!
