The old and charming building is almost completely made of wood. Of particular interest is the panoramic balcony near the refuge, on Monte Vedorcia at an altitude of 1852, where the view over the Centro Cadore and the surrounding peaks. It is a base for hikers and walkers of the Alta Via delle Dolomiti n. 6.

How to get there:

IN SUMMER

The Shelter can be reached from Pieve and Domegge.

From Pieve, by car, go down to the dam, cross the lake and drive along the left side, towards Domegge. Once arrived at Chalet Miralago, the road starts to climb in hairpin bends and is asphalted up to La Faghera, 1157 m, where you can park.

Those who have a 4x4 or a car with a good ground clearance and are not afraid of dirt roads can continue. The road continues, with steep curves and with the road surface often ruined, up to the Tamarì cheese factory, where you are obliged to leave the car.

From here the road narrows, becomes path CAI n. 343 and shortly leads to the Refuge. Walking time from Faghera about 3 hours.

From Domegge, by car, cross the Centro Cadore lake and follow the signs for shelter Padova. Take the asphalt road that climbs steeply into the woods until you reach Antarigole, 1100m above sea level, where you can park and continue on foot.

The path winds through the wood, initially following the course of the Ru de Val stream, which forms beautiful waterfalls and then turning towards Le Palù and casera Vedorcia. Here you rejoin the road that goes up from the dam of Pieve.

Walking time about 4,30 hours. The path can also be taken from shelter Padova, passing through casera Pra di Toro (follow CAI trail n. 352).

IN WINTER

You can reach the refuge on foot and, snow permitting, with snowshoes or with alpine skis.

The most used route is the one that starts from the dam of Pieve di Cadore.
