Due to its convenient location, excellent management and the great mountaineering possibilities offered by the countless "routes", open and to be opened, the refuge has always been popular with both famous mountaineers and simple hikers.
Among the various famous mountaineers who stopped at the refuge in 1930 we can remember Andrich, E. and B. Castiglioni, Gilberti, Rudatis, Tissi and Mary Varale.
The notoriety achieved has crossed borders: on 11th September 1931, Alberto Rety of Brussels (the King of Belgium), Aldo Bonacossa, Paola Wiesinger and Hans Steger cross the Torre Venezia. And in 1931 Tissi, Andrich and Rudatis climb the Torre Trieste from the west corner. In 1933 it was the turn of Leopold de Belgique (later King of Belgium, after his father’s death during a solitary climb) who with Attilio Tissi, Carlo Franchetti, Giovanni Andrich and Domenico Rudatis made the "first" at the Brabant’s Bell Tower.
