Paolo De Lorenzo, his wife Barbara and their two sons Fabio and Davide animate this enchanting refuge that has comfortable rooms with bunk beds, toilets, dining room, bar, solarium and the new conference room opened in 2013, ideal for meetings and presentations of various kinds in a quiet and isolated environment.
The strong point of the restaurant is the cuisine of Paolo (professional chef), typical of Cadore with particular attention to the selection of the best products of Cadore and Comelico.
How to get there:
IN SUMMER
The shelter Padova can be reached by car.
From Domegge, by car, follow the signs for shelter Padova and Cercenà, pass the Centre Cadore lake and follow the road that climbs steeply into the woods. The road is almost all asphalted, it is 7 km long and leads up to an altitude of 1287 meters where the Refuge is located, the starting point of many excursions more or less demanding on the Spalti di Toro.
If you want to enjoy a quiet walk in the woods, you can go up on foot: it takes about 2 hours.
IN WINTER
the Shelter can be reached on foot and, snow permitting, with snowshoes or alpine skis. The road is beaten by the manager with the help of the snowmobile and can become a fabulous sledding track.
Attention: this is a non-sanctioned slope, without protections and used by skiers and pedestrians, so you have to go down carefully.
