Set in the wonderful environment of the Dolomiti Bellunesi National Park, the Valle del Mis hosts the homonymous artificial lake, bordered along its entire length by the towering peaks of the Monti del Sole.

Among the countless excursions that can be undertaken in this valley, one must absolutely not miss the route that will take you to the Cadini del Brenton, a series of splendid gorges with green waters, and the Cascata della Soffia.

Between the lake entrance and the famous Cadini del Brenton lies the Campanula Morettiana Botanic Garden which allows observation of high-altitude species and is divided into sections that recreate the main environments of the Park: rocks and gravel beds, wetlands, meadows and pastures, and forest. This easy trail leads to a sequence of 15 deep depressions carved by the waters of the Brenton creek, which cascades down from clear little waterfalls. These spectacular erosion pots, in the heart of the Park, amaze with the beauty of their colors and the perfection of their shapes. For a moment, you will experience the sensation of being lost, because these mountains are the wildest of the entire Belluno area: a natural paradise away from the world.

Finally, you can extend the route to reach the terrace suspended over the Cascata della Soffia.

"The road mysteriously snakes into the valley and runs alongside the lake, which is unsettling because one imagines it deep and cold. The mountains close the horizon with steep and wild slopes, and, if it weren't for the "national park" signs that pique curiosity, one might almost want to turn back.

Resist the temptation: the Valle del Mis shows its best later on. When it seems there can be no further progress, here comes the entrance to a nature trail: the Campanula Morettiana Botanic Garden, where all the nature of the area is concentrated for educational purposes, from the forest to the pasture, from the rocks to the gravel beds, along a path accessible to everyone.

All around, the Monti del Sole and the Agnelezze massif, peaks that appear untouched and unviolated, are rarely frequented, except by true enthusiasts. Just a few more meters and you will be struck by the true, great surprise: the Cadini del Brenton.

It is a sequence of fifteen stone basins carved by the waters of the creek, the Brenton itself, which flows down with a series of waterfalls, the most famous being called “della Soffia.” These are jets of clear, icy water that have created extraordinary and perfect shapes over the centuries, in a captivating spectacle of colors, reflections, and noise."
