The company consists of the "casera" and a small dairy for the processing of milk. During the winter period, the malga can be reached by snowmobile that provides a regular service upon reservation.
How to get there:
IN SUMMER
To reach Malga Ciauta you can start from Vodo, Borca or San Vito di Cadore.
The road from Vodo, partially asphalted, is the most popular and gives the possibility to reach the malga on foot or by car, going up through a pleasant wood. The walking time, once you have crossed the Boite torrent, is about 2.30 hours.
From the bridge of Cancia in Borca, take the road n. 476 that at the Pister barns becomes a path and reaches the malga in about 2 hours of walking.
From the hamlet of Villanova di Borca, follow the signs for Malga Ciauta/shelter Venezia and take the road n. 475 that becomes a path and reaches the malga in about 2 hours of walking.
From the locality of Serdes in San Vito, follow the signs for Malga Ciauta/shelter Venezia, pass by the Grotta della Madonna and the taulà di Tiera and continue to Pian de Madier. Here turn left and rejoin the path n. 475 that goes up from Villanova. Walking time about 2.30 hours.
IN WINTER
The paths and the road are practicable with snowshoes, with alpine skis and, snow permitting, on foot. The road downhill towards Vodo can turn into a fun toboggan run.
Attention: this is a non-sanctioned slope, without protection and used by skiers and pedestrians, so be careful when going down.
