LITTLE PEARLS BETWEEN PELMO AND CIVETTA

An exciting tour that touches on some of the most spectacular and little-known hamlets in the municipalities of Zoldo and Selva di Cadore in the area between Mount Pelmo and Mount Civetta. The presence of some asphalt stretches should not mislead, they are necessary to overcome some otherwise prohibitive gradients. In fact, these are set in an extraordinary environment that will actually be more enjoyable thanks to the ground that will allow you to pedal while admiring what surrounds you.

The start is set at Col dei Baldi, which can be reached by the two cableways that depart from Alleghe and which have the transport of the bikes included in the one-way ticket. From here it is a gentle descent to the former Malga Pioda and towards Palafavera only until the intersection of the "Ridolet" path, which descends in a rather technical manner to Pecol di Zoldo. (Only the most experienced can complete the descent in the saddle).

From here you ascend on tarmac to the scenic and beautiful hamlet of Coi di Zoldo, where a very steep off-road ramp leads to the new silvopastoral road for the Staulanza Pass. Climbing a kilometre of the pass, you pass the Malga Staulanza and at the next hairpin bend take the dirt road to Malga Fontanafredda. From here towards F.lla Pecol where, having crossed the ski subway and following the signs, you descend to the locality called: Palui.

Cross the pass road and climb up towards Malga Pien de Vacia. The initially unpaved road soon becomes asphalted in a very suggestive wooded environment. Reaching the highest point, you descend towards the malga with wide views of Colle Santa Lucia. Almost at the bottom of the valley you pass through the spectacular villages of Toffol and Andria in the municipality of Selva di Cadore and from l'Andria turn right along a narrow and very vertical road to cross a promontory and descend to Zardin from where you proceed towards the Giau Pass.

Here, having descended the first hairpin bend, turn right towards the hamlet of Posalz. Further on towards the hamlet of Troi, leave the road and enter the forest for a short descent to Pian di Colle, where a kilometre along the road leads to the municipal headquarters of this municipality.

From the centre of the village, a very steep downhill ramp leads to the hamlet of Rovei, which you leave to the left to continue in the direction of the junction with the road that descends to Caprile.

Follow this road for a little more than a kilometre and then take the small road on the right that leads to the old colony, now the Don Bughetti holiday home. Passing slowly in front of the accommodation facility, take the path that descends in hairpin bends towards the village of "Sotcrepaz".

From here to Caprile where you cross the bridge and along the cycle path on the orographic right or left depending on the presence of construction sites, you will reach Alleghe where this fantastic ride to discover the most spectacular villages in this area ends.
