Riserva Vincheto di Celarda
Riserva naturale Vincheto di Celarda, viale del Vincheto - 32032 Feltre (BL) IT (0039)043989520 043712.001@carabinieri.it www.carabinieri.it

Just a few minutes from Feltre, heading south, the Vincheto reserve occupies about 130 hectares of floodplain area and is characterized by an abundance of water, which has favored the settlement of various forms of aquatic life and a typical wetland avifauna.

Within the reserve, there is a facility for breeding marble trout, an indigenous species intended for repopulating watercourses, and an equestrian center; all activities concerning conservation and the promotion of environmental culture are of primary interest. Supporting educational activities, there is a visitors' center where the main environments of the reserve are reproduced; there are also enclosures and aviaries where animals from other recovery centers or with severe disabilities that prevent their reintegration into nature are housed, along with a beehive and an equestrian center where horses used by the personnel of the Carabinieri’s Command Unit for Forest Protection, Environmental Protection, and Food Supply are trained for surveillance and representation services.

The faunal community of Vincheto is quite rich. Eight species of amphibians have been reported, among which the most common and abundant is the hybrid pond frog. There are also the southern spotted newt, the green toad, the yellow-bellied toad, the Italian tree frog, the spotted salamander, the common toad, and the agile frog.
The winter rigor that characterizes the area ensures that the reptile community is not very abundant: the tessellated snake, the grass snake, the Italian whip snake, the smooth snake, the wall lizard, and the green lizard are present. The bird community is undoubtedly the main faunal component for Vincheto, given its proximity to the river environment. 45 species nest within the reserve while another 17 reproduce in immediately adjacent areas. Among these, particular mention should be made of the common merganser, the Eurasian eagle-owl, the quail, the skylark, and the little bittern.
Additionally, there are several species that are quite regularly observed in the area (brown kite, buzzard, crested tit), or sighted more sporadically (little crake, marsh harrier, sparrowhawk, water rail, reed bunting). The bird community also includes 30 species that are migratory or erratically present in the area.
As for mammals, it is worth noting the significant population of hares, the presence of wild boar, and populations of deer and roe deer.

Environmental education activities are conducted through guided tours, and research activities aimed at increasing knowledge of the reserve, such as the Life Natura project.

There is appropriate signage along the roads. Many flat paths are present within the reserve.

Open year-round, the path is suitable for strollers and visitors with wheelchairs. Dogs and bicycles are prohibited.
