The Alta Via 1 will introduce you to the many facets of the Dolomite landscape, from the almost lunar and desert-like scenery of the Biella and Fanes shelters, to the vertical rocks and walls of the Tofane, Pelmo, and Civetta, to the wild Dolomiti Bellunesi National Park.
The basic route is accessible and not particularly challenging for a good hiker, with variations for both the less experienced and those who want to tackle more complex sections. Along the way, you will find several mountain huts and shelters where you can stay overnight and regain your energy with traditional dishes.
