A marvellous world apart, where ancient stories have been intertwined: this is the Cansiglio Plateau, with its extension of about 7000 hectares, covered with extensive grasslands and forests of beech, spruce and fir.
There are several picnic areas equipped in Cansiglio: the one in Archeton is also the starting point of this beautiful, rather short and almost flat ring-route, which allows you to cross the plain by drawing a circular route through woods, meadows and pastures. And even an area of hangars and bunkers of the former NATO base, reclaimed and redeveloped. Another sign of the historical memory of this territory.
You can enrich the day's programme by stopping to visit the Giangio Lorenzoni Alpine Botanical Garden (open from the end of May to the end of September), to learn about and observe hundreds of plant species from the Alpine area.
