Possibly less famous than the other great Dolomite stages, the peak of Nevegal with its average gradient of 8% is a fine summit to add to your cycling achievements. You can set off from the centre of the Provincial seat to reach the “Hill” the town’s inhabitants are so fond of.
The Nevegal marked a stage finish for the first time in 1962, but it was only in 2011 that it made history and became something of a legend: "El Pistolero" Alberto Contador stole the victory from top favourite Vincenzo Nibali by terminating the Cronoscalata with a 34" lead over the Sicilian.
