Sant’Antonio and Monte Croce

These two passes of the Comelico are less legendary than other passes of the Giro, but nevertheless equally challenging and panoramic.

The Sant’Antonio Pass, also known as the Pass of Mount Zovo, connects Auronzo di Cadore with Padola in Comelico. Albeit not so long, this climb does require a good prep and will reward you with a splendid view. Instead, the Monte Croce Pass marks the boundary between the Comelico and South Tyrol as it crosses two charming valleys.

Curiosities and tips

  • These places are associated with images of "Crazy Heart" Bitossi who won the Rocca Pietore-Dobiaco stage in 1970, passing through these passes.
  • The Monte Croce Pass is an excellent departure point for excursions to the nearby mountain huts and refuges
