Pieve di Cadore is known for being the birthplace of Titian Vecellio, but also for its historical-artistic heritage, its natural beauty, and for the manufacture of eyeglasses that has spread throughout Cadore since the late 19th century.

To get closer to the culture of this place, you can stroll through the centre looking at the famous square with a statue of Titian and the Palace of the Magnificent Community of Cadore, looking inside the parish church that preserves the altarpiece made by the great painter, the house where he was born, and the Eyewear Museum.

All you need to do to enjoy its natural beauty is to look upward and catch a glimpse of the Dolomite peaks or choose from the many outdoor activities that can be done in summer and winter.

Curiosities and tips

  • On the second floor of the Eyewear Museum is a hallway spotlighting the peculiarity and development of the Eyewear Industrial District, an integral part of Cadore’s identity
  • The Magnificent Community of Cadore is an ancient institution that has governed Cadore’s municipalities for centuries and today helps to preserve its cultural identity and environmental resources
  • Climb up to Monte Ricco to see the war fort and admire Lake Centro Cadore surrounded by Spalti di Toro and the Marmarole group.
